Hello Prodigies! We are so excited to make the games part of our music class. The first time we played, I thought it was a great idea to have the note play with every press of button, for example with Bell Run.
However, it looks like none of the games are really making a sound, not even the ear training games.
Hope it gets fixed because it's a fun way to keep ear training but through play.

Where are you using them that they don't get any sound (iPad, laptop etc)? There was a mute switch option for a bit but i just removed that - check the mute switch wasn't on.
But there SHOULD be sound - that'd be weird if none of them are making sound at all

Yes! Tap the gear (Settings), then turn on Hand Signs. Every note gets its solfège hand sign underneath: Do, Re, Mi and all the way up. Happy composing!

We can’t get Instrument Detective to play any sounds. We checked volume and settings but still hear no sounds.
Tried on safari on iPad and on iPhone.

Thanks for the heads up, and sorry for the wait. We're testing Instrument Detective on iPad and iPhone this week. One quick thing to try meanwhile: flip the ring/silent switch on the side of the iPhone (Safari stays quiet in silent mode even with the volume up). We'll post here when it's sorted.

I'm stuck in a never-ending sign-in loop. I am successfully signing in, but it never registers on the games page, so I can't access past level 2. It seems like the standard videos page understands that I am logged in (I can see the mini profile picture), but the menu page with the options for videos/compose/games/etc doesn't register that I'm signed in. Maybe there is an issue with the cookie? This is on Chrome on an Android mobile device.

Sorry about that loop, and for the slow reply! We rebuilt sign-in since you posted: games.prodigies.com now has its own Sign In that uses your play.prodigies.com email and password and remembers you across Games and Compose. Could you give it one more try and let us know if it still bounces you?

The interface is all over the place. cant click on things and settings for compose tool are in a strange place! Not saving unless you publish? Doesn't make any sense. The "feedback" button is inhibiting me from clicking settings.. Can't input notes by keyboard... Deletes project if accidentally click on something also. Completely dysfunctional. So much potential. Lets go!

HEXAGON: Notes below G3 are being played in the 4th octave (E3, E#3, F3, F#3) are an octave off.
Do you have research for the use of Hexagon?? I find it fascinating!

Great ears! You were right: E3, F3 and F#3 were borrowing the higher bell sound and never got moved down. They play in the right octave now (refresh the page if it still sounds high). The hex layout is the "tonnetz" idea: every neighbour is a third or a fifth away, so chords and patterns become shapes you can see. Thanks for telling us!

Great request! Compose has a Black & White mode (gear → Note Style → Black & White) that carries through to printing, with fake-book chord symbols, so any song can become a black-and-white sheet. Black-and-white versions of the video performance tracks are on the list.

I use it with my 5 yo and he has great progress. I think it is everywhere available - simple and good, zero bloat or ads for Apple and Android. I can highly recommend it as user to other parents, its not free, but has a free testing period and is priced as a children’s book - fair I would say.

When I go to print the songs from compose it doesn't show the chords after the first page because of the title bar up top. I have tried all sorts of ways to get it to show up and there doesn't seem to be a way. I think it is something that needs changed in the coding. Thanks, Julie

Fixed, Julie! You were exactly right: the bar at the top of the editor was printing on every page and covering the first line of chords. It's gone from the printout now, so every page shows its chords. Thank you for spotting it!

You asked, we built it! Compose has key signatures now: tap the gear and turn Key Signature on, and the sharps or flats show at the start of every line, and the notes spell themselves correctly for that key (Eb in flat keys, D# in sharp keys). Minor keys too. Thank you for the idea!

Hi!
I am a general music teacher in Santa Cruz County. I've used the K-5 curriculum for a while now. I LOVE the guided rhythm of the week & guided desk bells! I can observe and grade while the students follow the video instruction.
However, I wish I could embed the videos into my slides. It's clunky navigating from my Google Slides to Prodigies. Moreover the interface within the curriculm is clunky at best. I can't merely click through a week's lessons. For example, if I want to use K Week 5s lessons, I start with the Rhythm of the Week, then back out, scroll back to week 5 (hopefully the scroll tool is responding) and I then I finally can select the next video. It eats into my precious music minutes with my students.
Again, I wish I could just embed the videos into the google slides. Even using the link merely takes me to the curriculum page, not the specific video I was trying to include.
Hope there's a fix here. Thanks for all you do for music education!

Great song choice, Seun! Two ways to get more notes: tap the gear and set Scale to Chromatic to get all the sharps and flats, and set Staff to Grand to add a whole bass clef underneath for the low notes. Can't wait to hear your Imperial March!

I wish the playlists weren’t so full of the performance videos. Sometimes my daughter likes to watch these as entertainment, but the performance videos really lose her interest quickly and make her frustrated. She’s much more interested in the videos with a person singing and signing. It would be nice to see the performance videos in a separate section. Or have devoted playlists that don’t include these. I tried to kind of manually do this with the “favorite videos”, but for me the favorited video playlists don’t automatically play from one to the next, instead they shoot you to whatever original playlist that the favorited video was originally pulled from.

I’m having issues with the sign in. Sometimes I sign in and it acts like I didn’t sign in (on the browser). Also, now it’s telling me my video playback is locked because “I have too many devices signed in” but when I go look into my devices, it’s just the same 2 devices signed in over and over. It’s counting different sessions as different devices. I am very excited about the new games, I will say. I’ve been desperately wanting something like this from you for a long time!! But I think is messing with my device count because it’s acting like the browser. Logins are separate from the app logins. I would love to see the games in the app.

Hey Seun - can you describe what you mean a bit? There is a setting for Bell note heads instead of note heads but it's really just for easier songs right now? Are you thinking we should do bell note heads for harder songs as well?

Seun - I made it possible to turn the bell faces on in both composition modes.
If you want to update a current song of yours, click edit and then from the menu pick the noteheads > bells options!!

Mr. Rob, can you please add more chords to the Chord area in the Settings and can you put different time signatures for different songs? When I make particular songs, I realize there's not enough chords. And when I try to put the right tempo for a song, the song sounds funny.
It happened a few weeks after I went to Compose. I was making Fur Elise on Compose. I was using the book "My First Chromatic Songbook", I got to Fur Elise and I saw the time signature 6/8. I looked on Google and searched "How many BPM is Fur Elise". Gave me an answer, but not the one I was looking for. For chords, it also happened with Fur Elise. At the beginning of the sons, there's an E Major and you only have E Minor. Please add these list of chords today:
A major, E Major, C minor, D major, D major 7, C major 7, C# major, G# major, and Bb minor. Thank you so, so, so much for what you do and until next time... Thank you! - Seun

So excited... yet not sure I am doing it right. I can't get it to work on my iPad, and even on my laptop (which is new and up to date) it seems to have a lag in the playback mode? Not sure what I am doing wrong, or if maybe there are just a lot of people trying to use it all at the same time. Once we get it figured out it will me amazing! My girls have tried to write on paper their own songs... so this will be such a nice up grade and encourage them along.

Can’t syncopate an eighth tied to a quarter over the bar line. Dragging doesn’t allow enough control, as it places notes in random places rather than desired place.

Make sure you're logged in with the same email you use for Lifetime or PK-5 and then drag the bells from the bottom up to the staff. A directions video / page is a good call! I'm on it
